Holdsworth House is quickly becoming one of my favourite wedding venues in West Yorkshire—and for good reason. As a Holdsworth House wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing love stories here more than ten times, and each visit feels like stepping into a cinematic dream.
The gardens alone are worth the visit. Iconic, lush, and beautifully maintained, they offer the perfect backdrop for romantic couple portraits, elegant family formals, and editorial-style wedding party shots. Whether bathed in golden hour light or framed by soft Yorkshire mist, Holdsworth House delivers timeless beauty in every frame.
This Jacobean manor dates back to the 16th century, making it one of Yorkshire’s most historic wedding venues. One of my favourite facts? The Beatles once stayed here while touring—and legend has it they asked the staff the next morning if the house was haunted! For the record, I’ve never seen or heard anything spooky during my time photographing weddings here. Quite the opposite: the venue always feels warm, welcoming, and full of charm. Sorry, ghost hunters—ha!
Holdsworth House has become a magnet for international couples. At recent weddings, I’ve met guests from across the U.S. who were drawn to the venue’s rich heritage. After all, the house is older than their country—how’s that for a conversation starter?
The venue’s popularity has also surged thanks to Halifax’s own Anne Lister. While I’m not sure if she ever visited Holdsworth House, I can say that it shares many period features with Shibden Hall, another venue I’ve photographed.
